The Coffee Playground, Sydney’s newest Kid Friendly Cafe

There are so many young families now and there needs to be more family friendly cafes out there to give  parents a little break! – Rosalie Perri, The Coffee Playground

I was thrilled to meet Rosalie Perri from the Coffee Playground in West Ryde and hear all about the Kid Friendly cafe she runs, The Coffee Playground, with her husband Joe.

Rosalie, the owner of The Coffee Playground – looking radiant with two under two! It must be the coffee

Rosalie and Joe opened The Coffee Playground with catering for families firmly in their plans. It was always going to be a Kid Friendly Cafe for Rosalie and Joe, as they are proud parents of two little ones of their own. Rosalie said “we know the frustration of not being able to go out and enjoy a beautiful coffee with some amazing food, so we decided to take the chance and make it a kids retreat  – having the parents interests in mind as well!”

There are a variety of things that make The Coffee Playground kid friendly, in addition to the custom made playground for 1 – 5 year olds that keeps little ones entertained – and running off some of the energy that keeps them partying right up until nap time. Rosalie is a woman after my own heart, after she discussed with me the importance of customer service for the parents and families that visit their cafe. “We ensure that our customers are spoiled when they are here” Rosalie said. Mums that get in touch with Kid Friendly Cafes Australia tell us that the places that they love to go are the ones where they feel welcome from the moment they walk in the door . Rosalie also shared that the kids menu is currently being revamped – you heard it here first!

The indoor playground has you covered even in wet weather

I asked Rosalie to share with our Kid Friendly Cafes families what she would recommend on the menu, and she told us that the Coffee Playground is proud to serve it’s own blend of signature coffee, a range of lovely teas (perfect for the cold weather), blended frappes, gelato shakes, breakfast served all day, and selection of salads, sandwiches, wraps and delectable burgers for lunch. Rosalie said that there are a few signature dishes on the Coffee Playground’s menu but if she had to pick a favourite (and I said that she had to!) it would have to be the Haloumi Stack for only $12.50. It has a piece of sourdough on the bottom, smashed avocado (perfect for those of us in the smashed avocado generation), baby spinach, roasted tomatoes, 2 perfectly poached eggs, haloumi topped with pesto and Parmesan. I’m a sucker for cheese, eggs and avocado in pretty much any combination, and so is my little man now, so that’s definitely on our must try list.

The Haloumi Stack – a must try!

Rosalie has high hopes and big plans for the Coffee Playground, and wants it to be a place for mums, dads and anyone eating out with small children to know that they can come there to have a break from the hectic days that we sometimes face at home. “This is the place where you can put your feet up, give your kids a nice meal while you also get to enjoy a delicious meal and a hot coffee – we know it doesn’t get to happen very often, but we love to see return customers come and enjoy our hospitality, whether it’s once a week or every day”.

House made Belgian Waffles, espresso mascarpone, crumble, caramel sauce, berries and edible flowers. Take my money!

I don’t think I can say it better than in Rosalie’s own words. When we were talking about what she hoped people would know about her cafe, her passion for her business, and the community it serves, was clear.

We are a small, local family business bringing great food and coffee to this growing area. We are all about the community and we hope the community will give us a go. All our food is very well priced so you will leave feeling very full and your pockets won’t be empty. We are so thankful to all those customers out there who have already come to see us and we cannot wait to meet many more!”
